As you search for a primary care provider, you may find different types of doctors. At Bolivar Medical Center, a variety of doctors offer primary care services. They include:
Family Medicine Doctors
Family medicine doctors provide you and every member of your family expert care during all phases of life—from birth, infancy and childhood through the teen years and adulthood.
Internal Medicine Doctors
Internal medicine doctors—also called “internists” or “general internists”—provide care focused on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases. They treat adults 18 and older and cover all primary care concerns except surgery and obstetrics. Internists are trained to solve diagnostic problems and manage severe chronic illnesses. They refer patients to specialists, when necessary.
Some internal medicine doctors may also be board certified in pediatrics and treat patients of all ages from newborn to adults.
