September 30, 2024
Bolivar Medical Center and Delta State University (DSU) Athletics are teaming up to raise awareness for breast cancer at the next home football game on Saturday, October 5. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. at Parker Field at McCool Stadium, and fans are encouraged to “pink out” the stands in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Fans arriving early at the stadium entrance will be treated to an array of pink giveaways to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. The event highlights the importance of early detection, education, and community involvement in raising awareness for this important cause.
“Breast cancer is a disease that affects millions of women and their families, and raising awareness is critical to encouraging early detection and lifesaving screenings,” said Jimmy Young, CEO of Bolivar Medical Center. “We are proud to partner with Delta State University and the local community to bring attention to this cause and to ensure that everyone has access to the information and resources they need to prioritize their health.”
In addition to spreading awareness, the partnership between Bolivar Medical Center and DSU Athletics underscores the vital role that health and wellness initiatives play within the community.
“Partnerships like these are essential for promoting wellness and health education across the Delta,” said Dana George, Senior Executive Associate Athletic Director, DSU Athletics. “By coming together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of our fans and the broader community. It’s an opportunity to show that we’re stronger when we work together.”
Fans are encouraged to wear pink and show their support during the game. Breast cancer survivors and those currently fighting the disease will also be honored throughout the evening.
